Borys Gudziak, Ph.D., sent a letter of condolences to the Polish people to the Polish Ambassador in Ukraine Jacek Kluczkowski regarding the tragic death of the Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, and all the members of the delegation who perished in the plane crash near Smolensk in Russia.

From the entire community of the Ukrainian Catholic University I express to you and to the acting President Marshal of Poland’s Seim Bronislaw Komorowski and all of the Polish people our deepest and sincerest sympathy regarding the terrible accident that took from this life the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczynski, the leadership of the state, and prominent figures of the political elite. At a time when the Polish people are in deep grief, we unite with them in prayer, so that the Risen Christ receives the souls of the deceased and that they may rest in peace. We also ask God to help the Polish state in the time great trials and call to the state service new cohorts of wise and just people.
We bow our heads in sorrow and grief. Eternal memory to the deceased!
