In addition to the articles and monographs that professors write, UCU also has vital scholarly projects on which researchers of various institutes at the University work.
Institute of Church History
«Profiles of Fortitude:» An Oral History of the Clandestine Life of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church
Researchers are interested in many themes of the Soviet period, including the history of the underground Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) from 1946 to 1989. Since 1992 research workers of the Institute have gathered reminiscences of clergy and laity about the life and activities of the UGCC in the underground period. In this way they research “blank spots” in Ukrainian history. www.ichistory.org
Catechetical-Pedagogical Institute
«Methods of teaching Scripture to lay people and scholars»
The Institute started work on this project in 2006. A number of handbooks have been developed, which at the same time will be instruments for scholarly research and a practical aid. Spreading these in Greek Catholic parishes will help youth and adults study the Bible. The full text will be published in 2010.
Institute of Religion and Society
«Christian social doctrine and Ukrainian legislation: A comparative analysis of basic principles»
The goal of this project is the development of dialogue between lawmakers and theologians on the application of the principles of social doctrine, for example, solidarity, in Ukrainian legislation.
