The first UCU’s international academic partner in Taiwan
Today, May 17, the President of Tzu Chi University (Taiwan) Ingrid Y. Liu, and the Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University Father Bohdan Prah signed a memorandum of understanding, support and academic cooperation.
Tzu Chi University is UCU’s first educational partner in Taiwan. Since the first days of the war, this university has been actively supporting Ukraine on various fronts: humanitarian, spiritual, and educational.
“The signing of this agreement is the expression of that affinity, and its power to bring nations together to secure education, pursue knowledge, improve the quality of life around the world, and enhance understanding of the value of solidarity that reaches across borders and boundaries to form partnerships based on similar values and advance knowledge”, – said Rector Bogdan Prah.
The memorandum includes 4 educational scholarships and humanitarian aid for the UCU Volunteer Center. Students at UCU’s bachelor’s and master’s programs will have the opportunity to take part in a one-year exchange program at Tzu Chi University, where the scholarship will cover all possible costs (travel, tuition fee, accommodation).

“Ukrainian Catholic University is renowned for combining religious spirit, and ethical education, with professional training, which shares the educational goal of Tzu Chi University. We understand that the UCU campus has become a Shelter for the Ukrainian people and army during this difficult time. TCU founder, Dharma Master Cheng-Yen, used to tell us that a University should become a shelter for people in a disaster. Rector Father Bohdan Prach also comforts many painful lives with your religious role. You have led your colleagues, students, and staff to support those who have to leave their homes and lost everything. By signing this MOU, Tzu Chi University would do our best to support UCU in humanitarian aid and collaborate in online education, faculty and student exchange, service learning, and research collaboration. Together, we will ensure the quality and sustainability of higher education, which is the core value of United Nation SDG4 and in all religions. On behalf of Tzu Chi University”, – Madam President of Tzu Chi University, Dr. Ingrid Y. Liu said during her welcome speech.

We are thankful to Tzu Chi University for joining the Network of Solidarity and Strategic Partnership with Ukrainian Catholic University!
