The Ukrainian Catholic University is opening a new master’s program, Technologies and Innovations in Social Work. This will be the only educational program in Ukraine created for specialists in the area of providing social services who want to improve their skills and master new instruments and methodologies for effective work.
The Master’s Program provides a modular system of instruction (one week of classroom education per month), oriented to people who are already working and want to gain new experience, structure previous experience, and learn to make effective managerial decisions. Study lasts for 1.5 years.
One of the program’s tasks is to form a brand of social expert, to provide new meaning to the field of social work and social services.
The program consists of three blocs: Analysis and Research; Social Services: Technologies, Instruments, Innovations; and Social Policy and Management. After studying the disciplines of the first bloc, students have learned to diagnose the needs of the community, analyze data received, and predict and model paths and ways of solving problem situations.
Upon completion of the second bloc, students will master the necessary toolkit: from organizing and providing social services to monitoring and evaluating their quality. They will understand which innovative methods they can use in their work. The disciplines of the third bloc are oriented to understanding and analyzing dynamic processes in society and current tendencies in social policy and international social practices. So the program’s graduates will be able to develop, improve, and implement social policies and direct processes for forming and providing social services.
Praxis is an important element of the social work program. Students evaluate the needs of the community, develop a list of social services and mechanisms for providing them, evaluate the services provided, take part in Social HUB and implement their own projects. Throughout his or her studies, each student will receive individual support and consultation from teachers and experts of the program.
