On Wednesday, September 28, 2016 the regular meeting of the Academic Council of Catholic University, which examined the work plan of the Academic Council, the state of international cooperation at the University and a number of educational and methodical.
The Academic Council approved the work plan for the current academic year (download). Before that, she heard a report on the implementation of the Strategy academic UCU 2020 and included key strategic objectives in the plan of the Academic Council. Members of the Academic Council supported the proposal of the administration in the near future to focus primary attention on pulling various processes management training programs, such as financial management, decision-making based on data, quality assurance, as well as tyuninhuvannyu formational programs that would stimulate the spiritual search and initiative samozaradnist and leadership, acquiring soft skills of students.
The Academic Council approved the results of this year’s admission to graduate school UCU. Overall entrance barrier successfully passed the 8 students, five of which entered the doctoral program in history, two – the program of theology and one person – the Jewish Studies program. All graduate students received scholarships. This year, all applicants have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in English.
Academic Council unanimously approved the results of the competition among graduate students to be awarded scholarships named after Bogdan Solchanyk hero Hundreds of Heaven and lecturer at UCU. The scholarship is 5 thousand. UAH. per month and is awarded for one year. The condition of the scholarship is scientific achievements, participation in scientific conferences, international experience, social activity. Participation in the competition has taken 4 graduate students, each of whom had a worthy legacy. By decision of the Academic Council of the first recipient of a scholarship named after Bogdan Solchanyk became John Almes, graduate student of second year of the doctoral program in history.
The Scientific Council heard a report on international academic cooperation University. Compared to before last school year, significantly increased the number of academic mobility of our teachers and students. It should also be noted quality international scientific events that occurred in the Catholic University for a year, among which occupies a special place Slavonic conference ASEEES-MAG (514 participants). UCU is a magnet for various international delegations, including representatives of foreign embassies in Ukraine. The biggest challenge is teaching courses in English and involvement in education at UCU foreign students. The Scientific Council has identified several priority areas for the development of partnership in the current academic year: (1) pay particular attention to strategic partnerships and focus on the quality of the agreements; (2) provide menus in foreign languages courses at least 30 credits per semester; (3) require teachers who go abroad for training or teaching, develop courses in English and “roll” these courses among the UCU to secondment abroad; (4) require students plan to go to study or work abroad, successfully complete 2 years of study at UCU least two courses in English; (5) encourage teachers to Catholic University expert in European space activities and strengthen the publicity of their scientific research; (6) authorize the deans and program managers develop English language websites of their programs to disseminate information to prospective international students.
Academic Council approved a number of changes to curricula and adopted the document sharing and consolidation of academic disciplines at university departments. Academic Council encouraged program managers and heads of departments to work on the principle of Win-Win (value added) in the distribution of courses between university teachers and to base this primarily value quality educational program.
